Zero Waste event toolkit

Make your next event Zero Waste

Many events in the Cowichan region have adopted the Zero Waste philosophy, including fairs, music festivals, sports tournaments and business conventions. Making an event Zero Waste means a bit more up-front menu planning (e.g. using plates and cutlery from a catering company instead of using Styrofoam or paper, buying food in bulk to cut down on packaging, using condiments in refillable glass bottles instead of individual disposable packets) and a bit of work educating everyone involved with the event, but otherwise it is a very simple process.

One of the main reasons why it is easy to put on a Zero Waste event is that the CVRD will provide all equipment (signs and composting and recycling bins), and will haul away all of the bins (and their contents) at the end of your event.

All for free!! It doesn’t matter if your event is big or small.

And the CVRD’s Zero Waste event guidebook provides helpful tips on event promotion, purchasing, equipment set-up, and disposal options. Interested? Fill out this application form today!
