Earth Issues: Our Lifestyles and The Environment
The CVRD has created "Earth Issues: Our Lifestyles and The Environment", an environmental education manual for teachers and parents of children from Kindergarten to Grade 5. It covers a variety of topics from recycling to composting to air and water quality. It is also available for viewing at the CVRD office or your local library.

Encorp Recycling Systems is a not-for-profit product stewardship corporation that specializes in the recovery of all non-alcoholic beverage containers. Their mandate is to keep these materials from disposal. Their website contains educational material, incentives for schools, fundraising for community programs, etc.

Materials Exchange
Material Exchanges are a great way to get rid of unwanted materials such as Styrofoam packing chips, five gallons pails, plastic CD cases, etc. You’d be surprised what people want! Local exchanges can be made using the Cowichan Newsleader’s Materials Exchange program (call 250.746.4471).

This engaging British website offers tips on how to re-purpose products you would regularly throw out or recycle, as well as a wide range of videos.
